Around the World in 80 books (mostly) by female authors

Inspired by themis-athena's own post and challenge. I also need to read more books from different authors than I usually do, so I decided to try this out, albeit with a couple changes.

For the first half of 2020, here's how many authors I've read:

Map created with mapchart.net

Dark red indicates a book from a female author, blue a book from a male author, and green that I've read at least a book from a male and a book from a female author from that country.

Books read (so far) in 2020:

America (North)

USA

Octavia Butler - Parable of the sower

Naomi Novik - His Majesty's Dragon

Asia

Japan

群 ようこ - 無印親子物語 (Youko Mure - Unlabelled parent-and-children stories)

Europe

Italy

Anna Maria Ortese - Il cardillo addolorato

UK

Agatha Christie - Cat among the pigeons

Josephine Tey - The daughter of time

Surprisingly for me, this year I've already been able to read through more books than usual - shorter ones, sure, but still. I tend to stick mostly to authors from the United Kingdom and the United States, but lately I managed to also add books from a Jordanian/Saudi author, which is a good start. But most important for me, I'm also going through a book in Italian by a female author, which is a bit of a change of pace for me.

Let's compare with how many books I've read since I started this account on Booklikes (I'm considering my old account as well):

Books read from 2018 to 2020:

Japan

群 ようこ - 無印親子物語 (Youko Mure - Unlabelled parent-and-children stories)

田島列島 - 子供はわかってあげない (Rettou Tajima - Kids don't understand) [comic]

惣領冬実 - 太陽のイヂワル (Fuyumi Soryou - Damned sun) [comic]

Breaking it down in stats:

Books read in 2020

Books by female authors: 6

Books by male authors: 4

Books read since 2018

Books by female authors: 24

Books by male authors: 14

Overall I definitely read a lot of literature written by women, especially fantasy novels. I definitely need to read more from authors that aren't American, however.

And since playing with mapchart.net is pretty fun, I also decided to make another map to see, out of curiosity, how many books with female main characters I've read this year:
